FAQ
Q: Are MidiTronTM and MidiTronTM Wireless "plug and play"?
A: Not entirely, but close. The manuals provide diagrams which show you how to wire many popular sensors and devices plus sources for parts, sensors and more information. Configuration is easy using the provided software.
Q: I have no programming experience. Will I be able to use MidiTronTM and MidiTronTM Wireless?
A: MidiTronTM and MidiTronTM Wireless do not require any programming experience. You can use them to drive any program or device that receives MIDI, and you can drive MidiTronTM outputs from any program or device that sends MIDI. The supplied software allows you to configure them for the needs of your program or device.
Q: I have no electronics experience. Will I be able to use MidiTronTM?
A: You will need some basic electronics experience. The best place to start if you've never done this before is Tom Igoe's Physical Computing site, as well as the book of the same name. The MidiTronTM documentation has special sections with schematics to guide people with limited electronics experience. We also provide references to several excellent Internet resources for learning the basics of hooking up electronics. Plus, we're available at the MidiTronTM support address to help guide you.
Q: Do they work well with Max/MSP/Jitter?
A: Yes, very well. MidiTronTM and MidiTronTM Wireless work with the standard MIDI input and output objects (no special objects required), and the examples and configuration software are written in Max.
Q: Do you sell pre-wired sensors and devices?
A: Not currently, however the documentation provides a source list for ordering many popular sensors at less expensive retail prices than others' pre-wired sensors. MidiTronTM Wireless also accepts many 3-pin sensors made by other manufacturers.
